Come and see the football jersey from back when dad was a boy – and experience firsthand how the football jersey has evolved as a reflection of its time. A football jersey is much more than a player’s uniform – it is a symbol of community and club identity.
Over the years, Brøndby IF’s jerseys have been a central element for the club’s fans and their sense of belonging. In a new pop-up exhibition, created in collaboration with Brøndby IF, ARKEN presents – for the first time ever – a display of nearly every jersey in the club’s history, exploring the development of the football jersey.
ARKEN has also invited artists Frederik Næblerød and Jakob Kolding to present their own takes on a jersey. The pop-up includes a series of portraits of Brøndby IF players, taken by local children and young people from Brøndby Strand in collaboration with the NGO Turning Tables.
The photographs offer a more personal look at the players without their jerseys, creating a contrast to the visual identity of the shirts and inviting reflection on what it means to be part of a club and a community.
The collaboration between ARKEN, Brøndby IF and Turning Tables will expand further this summer with the opening of ARKEN THIRD SPACE – a new meeting place for young people in Vestegnen.
Entry to the event is included in the museum admission.
