ARKEN acquires works from 12 artists associated with the Danish art scene: Nina Beier & Bob Kil, Louka Anargyros, BURN OUT (Henrik Plenge and Jes Brinch), Ismar Čirkinagić, Simone Aaberg Kærn, Peter Land, Rasmus Myrup, Tabita Rezaire, Apolonia Sokol, Jakob Kudsk Steensen and SUPERFLEX.
“We would like to expand the representation of artists in the collection, so that the depth of works created in the years 1990-2010 is strengthened, for example, with Simone Aaberg Kern's work Open Sky (2002-2007/2024) and BURN OUT's Brøndt Kindergarden (1994),” says director Marie Nipper.
It is also part of ARKEN's strategy to follow selected artists so that multiple facets of their artistic practice are represented while strengthening the collection in relation to representation, expression and media. Therefore, Director Marie Nipper is pleased to be able to add three new works by Peter Land and SUPERFLEX, which are already part of the museum's collection — and a work by Tabita Rezaire, which is new to the collection.
